Tiger Barb

Tiger Barbs are vibrant, striped freshwater fish prized for their bold personality and striking appearance. These active schooling fish feature distinctive vertical black stripes on a golden-orange body, making them eye-catching additions to any aquarium. Native to Southeast Asia, Tiger Barbs thrive in groups of six or more and prefer well-planted tanks with plenty of swimming space. They require warm water between 68-79°C with moderate current and good filtration. These hardy fish are relatively easy to care for, making them suitable for intermediate aquarists. Tiger Barbs are omnivorous and accept high-quality flake food, pellets, and occasional live or frozen treats. They're known for their playful, sometimes nippy behavior—keeping them in adequate numbers helps reduce aggression toward tank mates. Avoid housing them with slow-moving or long-finned fish. With proper care and a suitable environment, Tiger Barbs can live 5-7 years, providing years of dynamic movement and color to your aquatic setup.
